press release Chevron and SPRC join forces with employees to pledge support in frontline medical workers’ fight against COVID-19

Since the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis began last year, frontline medical personnel and public health workers have consistently put themselves in the path of the virus to battle the growing outbreak. Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd. and Star Petroleum Refining Public Company Limited (SPRC) are committed to supporting employees’ demonstration of appreciation to these everyday heroes across Thailand by offering matching for their financial contributions to charitable organizations and hospitals through Chevron Humankind and SPRC ‘Double Happiness…. Happiness of giving is greater than ever’ respectively with the sum of the contributions totaling nearly 1.7 million baht.

Recently, Chevron Thailand has given the matched donation worth 433,050 baht to participating charities such as Ramathibodi Foundation, Siriraj Foundation, the Thai Red Cross Society and Songkhla Nakarin Hospital foundation. SPRC ‘Double Happiness…. Happiness of giving is greater than ever’ meanwhile donated 1.17 million baht to 9 hospitals in Rayong to support the purchase of much-needed medical equipment and supplies to ensure communities receive the care they need during the pandemic.

Chatit Huayhongtong President of Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd., said “Our social investment programs encourage employee volunteerism to support worthy causes to create a sense of pride among the workforce as they contribute resources to build better communities. Since 2015, Chevron Humankind has encouraged employees to donate funds to eligible charities of their choice and Chevron provides one-to-one matching for their contributions. During the latest drive, the program is well-received, leading to the final sum of 433,050 baht which will be used to strengthen charitable organizations’ ongoing response to COVID-19. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Chevron has mobilized local teams to support public health agencies in addressing the pandemic’s impact with an approximate budget of 20 million baht. Chevron continues to identify opportunities to support frontline health authorities as well as leverage innovation and expertise to empower government agencies to accelerate the progress towards a swift recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.”
