news chevron holds 2018 oil spill exercise
Led by Chevron Thailand, 2018 Oil Spill Exercise was conducted on June 14-15, 2018 in collaboration with Chevron colleagues from Chevron Center for Emergency Preparedness and Response (CEPR), World Wide Emergency Response Team (WWERT), Regional Response Teams (RRTs) and Functional Teams (FTs), Chevron Shipping. Attending the exercise were also Chirute Visalachitra, director-general of Marine Department and Dr. Phumee Srisuwon, deputy-director general of Department of Mineral Fuels, who joined as honorable guests. Other Thai government agencies participated in the event including Royal Thailand Navy, and Pollution Control Department.
The exercise took place at Chevron Thailand Office Building which also presumed as the Incident Command Post. The two-day simulation exercise focused on the Chevron ability to manage an oil spill in international level and further enhance Chevron Thailand’s response capability to effectively manage a realistic major spill response incident through established roles and positions.
The Asset Emergency Management Team (AEMT) with consultation from Subject Matter Experts (SME) worked together in developing Incident Action Plan and document response actions. They utilized the Incident Command System (ICS), a global-standard incident management system, which Chevron deployed as the first company in Thailand. This was exercised through a simulated oil spill scenario- FSO Enterprise Incident – which was later escalated to The National Plan.
