Ministry of Education awards Chevron for its outstanding contribution

Pornsuree Konanta, Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd., represented the company in receiving the certificate of honor and a pin of honor from Police General Permpoon Chidchob, Minister of Education, as a contributor to the Ministry of Education for the year 2024. The ceremony took place at the Teachers’ Council Auditorium, Ministry of Education.

Recently, Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production Co. Ltd., led by Pornsuree Konanta, Vice President of Corporate Affairs, received a certificate of honor and a pin of honor from Police General Permpoon Chidchob, Minister of Education. Chevron has been recognized as a contributor to the Ministry of Education for the year 2024. The ceremony took place on the occasion of the 132nd anniversary of the Ministry of Education. This award aims to honor organizations who have made significant contributions to education in Thailand and serve as positive role models.

Chevron received this award for its “Chevron Enjoy Science” project which was launched in 2015 as a public-private partnership. With a budget of over 1,160 million baht, this project aims to strengthen the capacity of government organizations and other relevant stakeholders in enhancing STEM education. Chevron collaborated closely with key agencies under the Ministry of Education, including the Teachers’ Council of Thailand, the Office of the Vocational Education Commission, and the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC). Additionally, the project extended its reach to more than 800 schools nationwide that fall under the OBEC umbrella.

Outstanding achievements of the project include the establishment of STEM Hubs and TVET Hubs in 18 universities nationwide. These hubs foster academic mentors at the centers, creating master trainers in participating schools. Additionally, the project incorporated STEM education models, curricula, and teaching techniques from Columbia University’s Teacher College. It also utilized teaching materials from the Smithsonian, USA, aiding the development of teachers and educational personnel both inside and outside the classroom, spanning both general and vocational education. The project has enhanced STEM education in 835 schools, improved the capability of more than 10,000 teachers, and directly benefited over 3,300,000 beneficiaries.
